EcoStore is a comprehensive e-commerce platform dedicated to sustainable and eco-friendly products. The client needed a modern, user-friendly online store that would make it easy for environmentally conscious consumers to discover and purchase green products while emphasizing the brand's commitment to sustainability.

The platform features over 500 products across multiple categories, including organic food, renewable energy products, eco-friendly home goods, and sustainable fashion. The challenge was to create an intuitive shopping experience that educates customers about sustainability while providing seamless e-commerce functionality.

My Role & Responsibilities

As the lead designer and developer, I was responsible for the entire project lifecycle from concept to deployment. My role encompassed UX research, UI design, frontend development, and performance optimization.

The main challenge was balancing the need for comprehensive product information with maintaining a clean, user-friendly interface. Eco-conscious consumers want detailed sustainability information, but too much data can overwhelm shoppers and hurt conversion rates.

I implemented a progressive disclosure approach, presenting essential information upfront while allowing users to dive deeper into sustainability details through interactive elements. The solution included:

Design & Development Process

Research & Discovery

The project began with extensive research into the sustainable e-commerce landscape. I analyzed competitors, conducted user interviews with 15 eco-conscious shoppers, and surveyed market trends to identify key pain points and opportunities.

Information Architecture

Based on research insights, I developed a comprehensive information architecture that organized products by sustainability categories, impact levels, and traditional e-commerce taxonomies. This dual approach ensured both experienced eco-shoppers and newcomers could navigate easily.

Prototyping & Testing

I created interactive prototypes using Figma and conducted usability testing with 20 participants. The testing revealed important insights about how users prioritize sustainability information, leading to several iterations of the interface design.

Development & Deployment

The development phase followed an agile methodology with two-week sprints. I implemented a component-based architecture using React, ensuring maintainability and scalability. The platform was deployed on AWS with comprehensive monitoring and optimization.
